Elements of Competency Performance Criteria
Element: Clarify the design drawing task
  • Determine the requirements of the design drawing brief received
  • Check and modify information to meet design criteria
  • Confirm accuracy of modified information with relevant stakeholders
  • Confirm software and file formats to be used with relevant stakeholders
  • Confirm design drawing brief and provide preliminary advice on feasibility

Element: Prepare for drawing production
  • Determine stakeholders to be consulted in design drawing process
  • Access required reference documents
  • Assess and determine work health and safety (WHS), regulatory and sustainability issues relevant to design task
  • Determine range of engineering drawings required

Element: Produce mechanical or maintenance engineering-related drawings
  • Produce orthogonal drawings of mechanical components and assemblies to standards using computer graphical techniques
  • Produce 3D images of mechanical components and assemblies to standards using computer graphical techniques
  • Determine and apply dimensioning, symbols and other graphical convention information appropriate to mechanical or maintenance engineering applications
  • Obtain required technical and professional assistance to clarify design information
  • Confirm final range of design drawings to be produced with relevant stakeholders

Element: Provide and supervise final documentation
  • Submit final design drawings for sign-off by specified authority
  • Prepare CAD files for export to detailer
  • Provide and store documentation and clearances according to job requirements and enterprise drawing management system and procedures
  • Follow organisational processes to supervise production of detail drafting

Submission Requirements

List each assessment task's title, type (eg project, observation/demonstration, essay, assignment, checklist) and due date here

Assessment task 1: [title]      Due date:

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
